I took a reference photo of this cow while visiting a relative's small ranch at Nukko Lake near Prince George, B.C.. The serenity of the quiet setting appealed to me very much, and I'd thought about painting a cow some day. I added small bits of colour here and there to add a semi-abstract quality to the work. And a purple sky. I love nature and aim to invoke a sense of wonder and appreciation of the natural world in such paintings, for the viewer. I'm not sure of her breed, but the tractor is a late 1970s Massey Fergueson.
