The painting on this hand built plate was inspired by Emily Carr’s painting “BC rainforest” her modern whimsical style and unique way of painting trees is what drew me to her work. Fitting a similar image onto a plate and painting with a watercolour like effect is a new style of art making for me. The process of building a platter and creating a painting on top brings my two passions of ceramics and painting together. It was a pleasure to create a piece inspired by one of my favourite artists and bring a version of her painting to life using a different medium.
