Level of Difficulty: This workshop is open to intermediate and advance. Beginners are welcome, but some basic watercolour skills recommended.
Media: Watercolour
Workshop Description: Everyone has similar issues with watercolor and this is discouraging. I will show you how to approach different subjects in one way so that nothing would look scary and hard. There are simple steps to follow and understand while working in watercolors. When you understand this, watercolors will be looking easy for you.
We will make a painting each day. We will practice how to push the light and just focus on the mood instead of the subject.
Supply List: I really believe the color palette students prefer is enough. What I try to teach is, regardless of the subject, how to obtain a light and dramatic mood with what ever color we pick. I aim to give students more confidence in color picking.
- I prefer having a good paper such as Fabriano or Arches 300gr hot/cold/rough paper.
- It's good to have a variation of round 0 2 4 8 14 18 brushes. Any size would work.
- A mop brush.
- A rigger or liner. Can be a very tiny brush too.
- A big brush to wet paper.
- For my palette, I love to pick cools and warms. Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, Transparent Pyrrole Red, Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Blue, Viridian, Alizarin Crimson, Payne's Gray, Lavender, Chinese White, Jaune Brilliant no1.no2, Cerulean, Indian Yellow.
- Spray Bottle
I do not rely on anything specific. I really recommend a good paper. Other than that, any color, any brush would work.
