Times: 11 am to 3 pm
Location: Gallery 1710 at 1710 56th Street, Tsawwassen, BC
Please arrive 20 min early to get settled in.
Coffee, tea and snacks will be provided. There will be short break for lunch and you are responsible for bringing your own.
Level of Difficulty: This workshop is open to all levels, beginner, intermediate and advance.
Media: Mixed Media / Collage
Description: We all want to try new ways to improve our paintings by adding texture, colour or trying new media. Collage lets us explore many different themes in many different ways. Come explore the art of mixed media / collage with Roxsane, or get some new ideas. In addition, She will explain the importance of using good quality paper scraps and how to use it. Roxsane will also explain chigiri-e (Japanese torn paper collage).
This will be the place to let your imagination loose with the guidance of Roxsane.
Supply List:
A small collection of bits and pieces of different specialty paper will be provided but bring some of your own as well plus other surface enhancers to the workshop to try out.
- a watercolour paper support to work on [new or used]
- some white glue
- a brush to use with glue
- containers for water and glue
- a brush with a fine point or edge to use with water and an old
- a photo or a composition to use as a guide
- scissors, ruler.
About the Instructor: Roxsane is an award winning BC artist, an international traveler and educator. She soaks up local colour, customs and cultural influences. These cross-cultural experiences stimulate her imagination and creativity. This along with her love of nature provides an endless variety of subjects for her art. As an artist, the discovery of Chigiri-e opened her creative channels. She enjoys the variety of papers, the feel of paper, it can be sturdy or fragile, bright or hazy, fibrous or sheer - gauzy. She loves it all.
