Time: 10 am to 4 pm with 1/2 hour for lunch, so bring a lunch.

Please arrive 15 min early to get settled in.
Bring an apron to protect clothes.
Coffee, tea and light snacks will be provided.

Location: South Delta Artists Guild's Workroom

Level of Difficulty: Intermediates or beginners with a basic understanding of acrylics. Not suitable for absolute beginners.

Materials:

  • Support: canvas panel, acrylic paper, or gessoed watercolour paper. Suggested sizes: 12 x 12 (minimum), up to 16 x 20. Square or rectangular format of your choice. Have your support ready to paint, ie. pre-gessoed if using watercolour paper, or re-using an existing acrylic painting. If using paper have a suitable size board, foam core, or similar support to tape your paper to as we may be tipping and turning the painting for different effects.
  • A variety of acrylic brushes, including at least a 1” brush, and a smaller one for finishing detail.
  • A plastic credit or hotel card is optional, as is a bit of plastic food wrap.
  • Mark-making tools like a skewer, pencil, plastic fork, etc.
  • Water pot and paper towels or rags.
  • Pencil and paper (for planning)
  • Acrylic paints: heavy and/or soft body, and/or fluid acrylics. You can bring some acrylic markers (like POSCA) if you like. At least two transparent colours (See suggestions below), titanium white and a black. Other colours of your choice, but lean towards transparent or semi transparent. Some suggestions are cad yellow light, cad yellow deep, cad red light, quin magenta or alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue, pthalo blue, pthalo green, transparent red oxide, transparent yellow oxide, yellow ochre.
  • Fluid acrylic medium - gloss or matte. Opaque paint can be mixed with fluid medium to increase transparency so things are very flexible. NOTE: You can use 'student grade' acrylics.
  • Apron, gloves if you prefer,
  • Mixing palette of choice (I will be using a stay-wet palette, and a disposable paper palette)
  • Spray or mist bottle for water.

Be prepared to have some fun.
