The Milk River meanders thru Writing-0n-Stone/Aisinai'pi Provincial Park. This amazing park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Alberta. Writing-on-Stone National Park. It was such a beautiful discovery that we stayed three nights. Writing-on-Stone/Aisinai'pi is a UNESCO Site. The park is an amazing, beautiful place in so many ways. We were fortunate to have been able to participate in a guided exploration of the unique sandstone formations and petroglyphs. Our guide was Blackfoot Elder Saa'KoKoto. Saa'KoKoto shared stories and knowledge that presented the close relationships the Matapiiksi(the people) have with this place both in the past, present and into the future. He emphasized this changing time of year, the Autumn Equinox during his presentation to us. I did two Pleine Aire paintings while at Writing-on-Stone. In the first painting, I was standing by the Milk River surrounded by the changing autumnal colours and the brilliant blue sky.
