Klemtu is a small, isolated community located in a pristine cove on Swindle Island, 228 km (142 mi) northwest of Bella Coola. The village is enclosed by the Great Bear Rainforest and sits on the doorstep of Princess Royal Island, home to the legendary white Spirit Bear, the Kermode. The mystical layers of mountains that frame this small community inspired me to paint this beautiful artwork. I painted this painting while I was an artist on board the BC Ferry, Queen of the North, en route to Prince Rupert from Port Hardy. This is the view I saw from the ferry.
