Begun as plein air on an overcast day in Ladner three weeks into the shutdown of the pandemic, the weather quickly worsened, causing commotion in the water. As I completed the painting in studio, I drew a parallel with the water and the turmoil felt by society as the ramifications of COVID-19 began to become apparent, throwing life into a shadow.
